Blonde hair, hazel eyes, vaccinated!

If you had told me one year ago that a 7 minute window of my day would symbolically mark the beginning of the end for SARS-CoV-2, I would have choked on my chai. On the 4th of March 2021, I drove 6 minutes to my local vaccination centre, walked in, and mere moments later, I walked out.

New year, new me. I dissolved my lip filler!

As with most things in life, I have strong opinions on cosmetic surgery. I’ll pre-face this short ramble with a very certain statement: I am pro ‘getting work done’. Of all types. I don’t subscribe to the narrative that natural beauty is ‘best’, as I don’t prescribe to any narrative which dictates what beauty is or should be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but most importantly, beauty is in the eye of the beholden to the mirror.

Regular programming shall resume shortly

I’ve been grounded for some time now, and if you’re reading this I’ve no doubt that you’ve been too. Perhaps the greatest test in accepting my infinite powerlessness in the face of natures choices, my usual fortnightly and often weekly travels have evaporated from my schedule. Every scheduled trip in my itinerary has been pushed back.

Computer love

You know the feeling when a worldwide pandemic keeps you separated from your loved ones for an entire year? Funnily enough, so do I. We are a year in to the ‘new normal’ being, well, not so new at all. I’m not sure I even know how to use a knife and fork anymore, let alone attend a Michelin star dining experience.

New year, same Jessa

2020 was, without doubt, the definition of the unexpected. The world was on fire, revolution was happening, the circus of politics seemed more theatrical than ever. And as if this wasn’t enough to set 2020 in the history books as the most memorable year of an entire generation, we then had one of the worst pandemics our planet has seen. Quarantine, lockdowns, antibodies, RNA, DNA, zoonotic disease, SARS—CoV-2 - the list of words previously so unused in our day to day lives became some of the most used and familiar in the span of one month.

Travel Companion

A new year, so many opportunities to be a travel escort. One of the most exciting things for me at the turn of NYE is thinking ahead about the trips I have scheduled, and the ones yet to be. Last year during my escapades as a travel companion I discovered Singapore and Hong Kong, I revisited Thailand and Amsterdam, and I dipped my toes into some of Europe's most beautiful nature. This year is already shaping up to be incredibly exciting. I’ve set my sites on much more of Europe - Brussels especially. So many incredible places are essentially in my backyard, yet I’ve never properly explored them. I’ve added Barcelona, Ostuni, Berlin and Cannes to the bucket list, with Switzerland being a given destination (Zurich feels somewhat of a second home to me). International travel always ends up taking me further afield, however.

The Client Relationship

Picture the scene. A party in the depths of East London’s most on-trend bars is heaving, a deep baseline slowly thuds while limbs intertwine and all the beautiful people soak up all that the city has to offer. I’ve been deep in conversation with a Totally Hot Babe™ for about 15 minutes. She’s got these bright eyes and a blunt brunette bob, which she runs her fingers through effortlessly as we move from the topic of music to the topic of British pleasantries. She asks ‘what do you do?’. And so it begins.

Tattooed Playmate

It’s no secret that I’m a companion with say, one or two tattoos.

People ask me often how many tattoos I have. Honestly, I stopped counting. They ask what they mean. And my answers to this question isn’t just complicated - it’s personal. There’s a reason I react somewhat dismissively when asked by strangers, and there’s a reason that seeing all of the tattoos on my body is something that indicates a level of intimacy these strangers have not earned the privilege of. It’s the same reason that lovers who really know me, know that both at once these tattoos mean so much, yet they also define so little of who I am.

Beginnings

The turn of a new year is a time which, for most of us, inspires some degree of reflection. For me, it tends to revolve around the achievements and areas for growth of the year just gone, and the hopes and dreams for the year ahead….
